We’re looking for a capable team player joining our 26-people-10-nationalities-6-countries product team in our ‘vocational training’ unit as a Product Manager for the “Teaching Experience.”
Our product team at Cornelsen eCademy & inside GmbH is building a set of web apps supporting vocational training. Our users are trainers and trainees, and our goal is to provide them with the means to acquire their profession’s knowledge most easily and support the teaching process in the best way possible. Our team focuses on getting things right pedagogically, so our content team has a solid educational background and a significant influence on our product. We are proud to serve huge blue-chip customers like BMW, Continental, or DB and SMEs alike.
How we tackle product
We empower our product teams to solve challenging problems: customer problems and business problems – in ways that our customers love, yet work for our business. Our product teams are cross-functional and durable, generally comprised of product management, engineering, design, data, and content functions.
We staff our product teams with the skills necessary to come up with effective solutions that are valuable, viable, usable, and feasible. While the product designer is accountable for ensuring our solutions are usable, and the engineers are responsible for ensuring the solutions are feasible, the product manager is accountable for ensuring the solution is both valuable and viable.
We ask our product managers to collaborate closely with product design and engineering on the team and our support-, success, – marketing- and sales-functions and customers directly to discover effective solutions, and then work together to deliver those solutions to market.
What we appreciate and expect
We expect you to contribute to your product team a solid knowledge of the various constraints of the business – constraints from content, marketing, sales, finance, legal, and privacy are typical examples. You as a product manager must also contribute to the product team a deep knowledge of our users and customers, and the data about how our customers engage with our products. Finally, you are expected to track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to your product.
This job, as with the other roles on the product team, is an individual contributor role. You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, and stakeholders through your use of data and logic.
While each member of the product team may be accountable for a specific risk, we look for product managers that understand that consistent innovation is the result of each member of the product team contributing their passion and their ideas. This requires fluent English and good communication skills in general. As other teams in the company and most of our users and customers are German-speaking, any knowledge or interest in learning German is a big plus.
While we’d appreciate you relocating to Berlin, it’s not a requirement as we’re already working across multiple countries, using a remote-first setup (Slack/Zoom/Mural) which allows for flexible working hours as long as they have enough overlap with 10am-3pm Berlin time (UTC+1). In case you would like to work remotely, we’d prefer you to be able to meet the team in our office in Berlin or Cologne at least 4x per year – post-Covid, of course.

We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems in ways that are just now possible. As such, we explicitly seek people from all educational backgrounds and cultures and with both traditional and/or non-traditional life and work experiences. Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our product team.
